What is a Data Protection Officer ?

A Data Protection Officer (DPO) is responsible for :

1. Acting as a Liaison between Organisations, their Data Controllers and the Information Commissioners Office
2. Supporting Organizations with Practical  Knowledge to  comply with the Data Protection Act
3. Managing Data Breaches & Data Subject Requests 
4. Keeping Organizations  up to date with any changes in Legislation or ICO Guidance 
5. Overseeing and supervising  Data Impact Assessments
6. Providing 3rd Party independent  advice and support  

 

Who needs To Register with the Information Commissioners Office

Any Organization or Individual that processes (Accepts, Manipulates, Transfers or Stores) Data has a legal obligation from December 1,2023 to register with the ICO.    This Data means any Electronic , Paper, Biometric Records etc ) that contains Personal Information.

What Documentation is Required To Register ?

Hollken will provide you with all the relevant documentation to successfully complete the Registration Process . This will include a complete inventory of your records , how they are processed and what safeguards you have in place to prevent data breaches .

What is a Data Impact Assessment ?

A Data Impact Assessment is a process in which we document how effective your organization is at protecting Personal Data 

How often am I required to Complete  A Data Impact Assessment ?

The Data Protection Act of 2020   will require the submission of an ANNUAL Data Impact Assessment from December 1,2023

Are There Any Other  Legal  Requirements under the Data Protection Act?

YES- there are many !  But its important to note , that there are 2 very significant reporting  mechanisms required by the Act which  Hollken can assist you with :

1. On request by a data subject , You will be required to provide in writing,  documentation the outlines any personal data you hold  on that particular Data Subject  . This needs to be provided within  30 days . 

2. You will also  be required to submit to the commissioner any suspected Data Breaches and provide sufficient evidence that you have taken steps to contain that breach .
